Final Map Released for Bike Share Expansion in East Harlem (Manhattan CB11)

NYC DOT conducted an extensive participatory planning and outreach campaign with the local community to select Citi Bike locations in East Harlem in early 2015 and through the first half of 2016. Per the program’s siting guidelines, this process included more than a dozen meetings and events with Community Board 11, local elected officials, area institutions, BIDs, and other community organizations. From public workshops to community presentations, DOT actively engaged with the community and listened to their concerns and comments.

The draft station siting plans were released by DOT in December of last year and since then, DOT reviewed the comments received from local stakeholders about proposed stations. As a result, DOT has relocated seven stations between the draft and final versions of the plans. Additionally, six stations were added to the final plan to improve system-wide density, helping to ensure that the Citi Bike program will provide a more robust and reliable service for users. DOT anticipates that Motivate will install these stations as far north as 110th Street later this year, with the remaining stations in Manhattan Community Board 11 to be installed next year.
